With WiFi tracking, you can elevate your tracking experience to new levels. WiFi tracking allows for indoor tracking, where traditional GPS tracking often struggles. If you have a Gemstone or Gemstone Bike tracker and a premium subscription, you can now track accurately indoors.
How to Activate Indoor Tracking:
- Open our app.
- Go to the settings for the respective tracker.
- Enable WiFi Tracking.
What is WiFi Tracking?
WiFi Tracking, or WiFi Triangulation, is an effective method for accurate tracking. WiFi triangulation determines the precise location of a device by leveraging signals from multiple WiFi access points. Unlike traditional WiFi tracking, which often involves monitoring a specific WiFi network, WiFi triangulation uses multiple WiFi networks to increase accuracy.
How Does WiFi Triangulation Work?
WiFi triangulation works by measuring the signal strength from several WiFi access points relative to the device being tracked. By analyzing the signal strength and distance, the system can calculate the device's precise position through geometric calculations. Here's a step-by-step explanation of the process:
- Signal Collection: The device detects the signal strength from various available WiFi access points in the area.
- Distance Calculation: Using known distance relationships and signal strengths, the system calculates the distance between the device and each access point.
- Triangulation: By applying triangulation algorithms, the system cross-checks the distance from at least three different access points to determine the device's precise location.
